March 3rd-March 5th, 2004
Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center
Palo Alto, California

The 2004 conference focused on building partnerships across sectors, by examining case studies of public-private partnerships aimed at addressing a range of development concerns. Conference participants examined the potential and the practical aspects of building partnerships with governmental (and intergovernmental) agencies, private business, and civil society organizations.  They also had a chance to explore and evaluate the role of intersectoral partnerships in advancing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals -- benchmarks in education, the environment, public health, human rights, and other key development indicators broadly aimed at achieving a substantial reduction in global poverty by the year 2015.
