Meet The Social Entrepreneurs

This session highlights the work of innovative leaders of non-profit and for profit ventures from around the world. These inspiring pioneers are creating sustainable approaches to poverty alleviation and long-term development. Joined by their donor or investor, 17 social entrepreneurs at the 2007 conference shared their story with conference participants, providing them the opportunity to learn about projects and the practice of philanthropy on a one-to-one basis. Grantees described their programs, their successes and challenges. Grant-makers described their initial decision-making, means of monitoring and measuring results. The work of these entrepreneurs reminds us of the potential to harness human ingenuity to the goals of human security, environmental sustainability and improved quality of life.
