Africa Philanthtropy Program

African Philanthropy Forum

apf2-2

The African Philanthropy Forum (APF) is a network of diverse partners who are united by their passion and commitment to actualize inclusive and sustainable development in Africa. Since its incubation by the Global Philanthropy Forum in 2014, APF has reached 1700 philanthropists, social investors and key stakeholders in 12 countries across Africa, sharing knowledge, facilitating collaborations and amplifying the work of its network.

APF is optimistic about the catalytical role of philanthropy in the development of Africa and will focus its strategy in the next five years on improving the philanthropic infrastructure in Africa to enable philanthropists to give and make strategic investments on the continent.

In the upcoming years, APF will invest in: transforming the culture of giving by Africans through embracing the “three Ts” (treasure, time and talent) as different forms of philanthropy; creating a reliable database of local philanthropists, donor organizations and trustworthy NGOs; holding capacity-building programs on effective philanthropy; publishing the Philanthropy Index to rank philanthropic activities, provide reliable data on the scale and impact of philanthropy in Africa; developing a cohort of system entrepreneurs that create systematic solutions to African issues; creating an online platform for giving; and creating the “Africa Giving Alliance”, a community of givers who pledge a portion of their wealth to supporting the development of the continent.

The next APF conference will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on October 29 & 30, 2020. For more information, please visit their website.
