At the heart of the Conference are Problem-solving Working Groups on specific topics, through which GPF seeks to stimulate conversations and help advance strategies that transcend sector and geographic boundaries. Working Group sessions allow participants to engage with the programmatic content more deeply, confront problems together and identify opportunities for collaborative action. The sessions are chaired by skilled facilitators and seeded with key on-the-ground actors and innovators who are close to the problem under discussion.

This year, Conference participants will discover, experience and reason together using three interactive formats*:

• During the roundtable dialogue sessions, previously identified expert practitioners will be called on during different parts of the session to frame segments of the discussion, but participant engagement is encouraged throughout.

• The expert-led discussion groups begin with brief presentations by expert practitioners, who frame segments of the session topics. After their remarks, each expert facilitates group discussions regarding the issues teed up in their remarks.

• Finally, GPF is proud to partner with IDEO.org, who will facilitate human-centered design thinking sessions, in which participants will take part in structured brainstorming and synthesis exercises using design thinking principles. After hearing from an expert panel, participants will collaborate in small groups to uncover potential solutions to the Working Group’s topic.

* Working Group formats are noted throughout the agenda.
