Dianne Calvi is president and CEO of Village Enterprise. Working in rural Sub-Saharan Africa, Village Enterprise has started over 42,000 businesses, trained over 263,000 new small business owners and lifted over 900,000 people out of extreme poverty.
Since joining Village Enterprise in 2010, she has grown the size and depth of the organization’s impact by focusing on strategic partnerships, innovation and technology, rigorous monitoring and evaluation, and building a highly qualified African team. In partnership with USAID Development Innovation Ventures and UKAID/DFID as outcome funders and SV2, The Delta Fund and several individuals as investors, Village Enterprise recently launched the first development impact bond in poverty alleviation in Sub-Saharan Africa to further scale its impact.
During her tenure, Village Enterprise has been recognized by The Life You Can Save, ImpactMatters, the Rockefeller Foundation, Innovations for Poverty Action, the Classy Collaborative, and received top ratings from Charity Navigator and Guidestar.
Calvi previously held leadership positions in NGOs, technology companies and on several nonprofit boards. She graduated with a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.
