Eric Harr is Co-founder and CEO of The Laudato Si’ Challenge.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, The 2017 Laudato Si’ Challenge was the first initiative of its kind: a global call-to-action for startups to impact climate change. From hundreds of applicants, The Laudato Si’ Challenge chose nine for-profit, for-purpose businesses—from every major continent and every major faith—that they funded, mentored and celebrated at the first-ever “demo day” at The Vatican on December 4, 2017.
The Vatican welcomed Harr and his team back to put on another challenge to solve a systemic problem facing humanity. The 2018 Laudato Si’ Challenge is to: sustainably improve the lives of 10 million refugees by 2020 by harnessing the engines of business and innovation.
Harr was the Founder and CEO of STAND, a mobile crowdfunding platform backed by investors including Twitter co-founders Jack Dorsey and Biz Stone. He was an on-air correspondent with CBS News and was the Founding Editorial Director at VIV Magazine, one of the first mass-market digital magazines.
He was a professional triathlete, ranked #6 in the world and finished The Ironman World Championships in 9:01:34. He is training to break the age-group record at this year’s World Championships.
He lives in Marin County with his wife Alexandra and their children, Vivienne and Turner.
