Dr. Isayvani Naicker is the chief director of international resources in the National Department of Science and Technology in South Africa. Her career has developed from scientist/researcher across technical areas (geology and computer science to social sciences and the environment, information and communication technology for development, to innovation and sustainability) to senior international scientific resources manager and partner, scientific advisor and reviewer. Naicker’s project experiences focus on looking at bridging the gaps between science, research and policy by working with senior government officials and ministers, scientific partners, policy-makers/donors in the African region and internationally.
Naicker holds a doctorate degree in Science Policy from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in Geology and Computer Science and Philosophy of Social Science from the University of Cape Town and London School of Economics respectively. During her research career she has built strong professional links with key audiences in government, the private sector and academia. She is a research associate at the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge and a visiting research fellow at the School for Public and Development Management at the University of Witwatersrand.
