James I. Mwangi is the Global Managing Partner of Dalberg, an international strategy consulting firm focused on issues of equitable and sustainable development, with 11 offices around the world. Before taking this role, Mwangi founded and led Dalberg’s business in Africa, after helping build its first office in New York. Mwangi’s clients have ranged from heads of state to senior leaders of multilateral organisations and foundations. He has also advised chief executives and investors on the intersection between commercially attractive and socially impactful business in frontier markets, particularly in Africa. Prior to Dalberg, Mwangi worked at McKinsey and Company in New York, serving clients mostly in the financial services sector. Mwangi holds an Honours Degree in Economics from Harvard University. He is a 2009 Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow of the African Leadership Institute, a 2013 Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and currently serves on the Program Advisory Committee of the Clinton Global Initiative. James lives in Johannesburg with his wife and son.
