A serial and social entrepreneur who started his first business at the age of 15, Patrick E. Ngowi is the founder of the Helvetic Group of Companies, which comprises of numerous subsidiary companies. It is the fastest growing network and equity holders in renewable energy that operates in East Africa.
After receiving a loan of $1,800 from his mother to start his business selling mobile phones and after discovering that only a tiny fraction of the Tanzanian population had power, Ngowi set out to setup Helvetic Solar Contractors and later established Helvetic Group; growing his business from humble beginnings into a group of companies specialized in renewable energy with revenues in millions of dollars.
His companies handle the supply, installation and maintenance of renewable energy, also conducting feasibility power studies. He is passionate about the growth and development of East Africa and focuses most of his energy on commercial and philanthropic initiatives across the region.
Ngowi also founded the Light for Life Foundation, a nonprofit social enterprise funded by his full gross salary and corporate social responsibility of Helvetic Group of companies, which focuses on providing free solar energy for women and schools in rural parts of Tanzania. The Foundation works to create sustainable economic and business development opportunities and was recognized for reaching over 1,000 rural recipients.
