Richard Rockefeller currently serves as chair of the board of Rockefeller Brothers Fund. He has chaired the U.S. advisory board to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) since 1989. In this capacity he has traveled with MSF to Peru, Uganda, Malawi, South Africa, Niger, Thailand and Cambodia. He founded and led two nonprofit organizations, Health Commons Institute and Maine Time Banks. He has served on a number of other boards including Rockefeller University, Rockefeller Family Fund, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, the Portland Art Museum and Time Banks USA. Dr. Rockefeller was educated at Harvard College, Harvard School of Education and Harvard Medical School. He completed his family medicine residency in Rochester, New York in 1982. Until recently he practiced and taught family medicine in the Portland, Maine area.
