Susan S. Bell

Ms. Bell is responsible for working with the board, staff, and advisors to plan for and implement changes in the Foundation’s programs and administration. Prior to working with the Hewlett Foundation, she spent over fourteen years in development, alumni relations, communications, and strategic planning for Northwestern University, the Sierra Club, and Stanford University. At Stanford, Ms. Bell also helped direct the Environmental and Natural Resources Law & Policy Program. She currently serves on the boards of the Africa Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, Illinois Chapter, the Openlands Project, the Foundation Incubator, and the Social Entrepreneurs’ Alliance for Change. Ms. Bell received an A.B. from Duke University in 1984 and completed the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1997.
